VFW Post 2179 Receives Seven Seals Award
On July 10, 2014, VFW Post 2179 Commander Pat Lipka received the Seven Seals Award on behalf of the Post from Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

We are saddened by the recent passing of Vietnam Veteran Bill Fraser, friend and supporter of VFW Post 2179, member of AL Post 515, VFW 4303, Middletown Elks 2179 and supporter of the Knights Of Columbus. On Monday, VFW 2179 will participate in the annual 5 Monuments and remembrance ceremony at the Post. Please be at the Post for 8:30am if you would like to participate in the 5 Monuments.

Tonight's Friday Night Dinner
Tonight, from 5pm to 8pm at the Post, American Legion Post 515 will host an AL 515 Helps Its Own pasta fundraiser dinner for their member, Bill Fraser, who has been battling cancer for over a year, to help with medical bills. Bill is a Vietnam Veteran and a member in good standing with VFW 4303, the Elks, and a supporter of the Knights Of Columbus. $10 per person. There will also be a DJ, raffles and gift auction. Please join us so we can all show Bill we care and support him for all his service to God and Country!

Friday Night Dinner, 5/9:
Saturday 5/10 is the annual placing of Flags on Veterans graves at Fairview Cemetery in Middletown! **Volunteers needed & greatly appreciated** Meet at VFW Post 2179 Port Monmouth, NJ for 8:30a or 9a at the cemetery. Wear comfy shoes (and ones that tolerate being wet given recent rainfall) & don't forget water! In the event of heavy rainfall that morning, this will likely be rescheduled to Sat 5/17. (Call VFW Sat 5/10 if there's heavy rain first thing in the morning).
Also on Saturday, 5/10 is the Installation of VFW Officers and Auxiliary ceremony at dinner at 8pm.

Coming Up!
Events beginning with this week's Friday Night Dinner:
Please remember that the annual placing of Flags on Veterans graves at Fairview Cemetery is Saturday, 5/10 and volunteers are needed! Meet at the Post in time to leave by 8:30am or meet at the cemetery for 9am (route 35 South diagonally opposite Whole Foods). We and AL post 515 would appreciate your help with the placing of these Flags in time for Memorial Day! There are 2,400 Veteran graves at Fairview dating back to the French & Indian wars (pre Revolutionary War). We do our best to place a Flag on as many Veterans graves as we can but we need help to make it happen because we don't want any Veteran forgotten. Please share and join us on Saturday 5/10. Thank you! (In the event of severe weather, the 'rain date' is Saturday, 5/17).
Also on Saturday, 5/10 is the Installation of VFW Officers and Auxiliary ceremony at dinner at 8pm.

Friday Night Dinner & Sunday Nascar Potluck!
Friday Night Dinner is from 6p-8p, includes coffee/tea, bread, salad & desert. All Welcome!
NASCAR is back and so are the joint AL 515 & VFW 2179 NASCAR festivities! Join us this Sunday, 2/23, in the lounge to kick off the 2014 NASCAR season with the Daytona race and a potluck, beginning at 1pm. (Coverage begins at 1pm, race begins at 1:30p, weather permitting). Bring a covered dish or snacks, your choice but please bring enough to share! (Already spoken for are chili and wings). All Welcome!
